This Week in True Detective is a feature that aims to bring you the best True Detective happenings of the week. This could include breaking news, popular articles, or anything else that people found interesting or may have missed.

Look, we all know that True Detective season two didn’t do as well critically as season one. This week was notable because we say a small shift in the public perception of season two, while at the same time another notable person came forward with their dislike. Does one balance out the other? Perhaps. Either it’s almost time to embrace True Detective season two as misunderstood and too harshly judged, or it’s time to jump back on the hate-wagon. You decide.

Let’s kick things off with the big news item of the week. In a new interview with Vulture, Quentin Tarantino offered up his opinion on True Detective. This is notable for a couple of reasons, one being that it’s Quentin Tarantino talking about True Detective. The other is that he said that he hated it and poked fun at the super serious tone of season two. He then, of course, admitted that he’d never watched it. So there you go.

Speaking to the aforementioned balancing act, a writer for The Huffington Post came forward with her defense of True Detective season two. That’s something that we didn’t expect to see for a bit longer, but it’s more than welcome now. Speaking of season two, our poll concerning the ending is still up until the end of the weekend.

Looking ahead to season three, we wondered when we’d hear about the renewal. Because, you know, it hasn’t actually been officially renewed yet. Fans are also ready to move onto season three, as the Twitter hashtag “truedetectiveseason3” is already gaining momentum. A fan also made an excellent mock-up of the True Detective season three opener that’s worth checking out.

Finally, though not chronologically finally since we’re cheating a little bit here, True Detective’s propmaster answered some questions on HBO Connect. In case you have ever been curious about creating the props for True Detective or just getting into prop making in general, this is something you’re going to want to read.
