There’s just something about season two that has latched onto the minds of fans, even if it’s not quit to the extent of season one.

When all is said and done, it may be difficult to tell which season was better liked just by looking at the creative fan response. We have a new tribute to show off, this time from YouTube user chrisbakon. There’s nothing really fancy going on here; the edited snippets speak for themselves. The video covers just about the entire season, so consider that your spoiler warning if you still haven’t caught up for some reason.
As with many True Detective season two tributes, this one makes sure to leave room for Frank’s death scene. For good reason, too, as Frank’s death is one of the best scenes in all of True Detective. It has strongly resonated with fans since it aired, and seems to be conveniently left out when critics talk about season two’s failings. But we’re not here to judge.
Not today, anyway.
You can watch the video below, which is set to “Lay Me Down” by The Fortunate Ones. It fits the mood well. The elder Velcoro’s prophecy to Ray also worms its way in there, which turned out to be very important in the end.
