This Week in True Detective is a feature that aims to bring you the best True Detective happenings of the week. This could include breaking news, popular articles, or anything else that people found interesting or may have missed.

There wasn’t much in the way of True Detective season three news over this past week — there was none, actually. That doesn’t mean that True Detective wasn’t in the news, though. Fargo started its second season last Monday, and with that brought plenty of comparisons to True Detective’s ill-fated second season.  Let’s begin, ya?

More from HBO

Last weekend brought Comic Con to New York, and of course True Detective was not present. Its absence made us reflect on how perfect True Detective would be in graphic novel form. Not as an adaptation of a previous season, but as an entirely new story. We can dream. In the good news department, we learned that season two will release on Blu-ray/DVD early next year.

Cary Fukunaga is still in the promotion circuit for Beasts of no Nation, and True Detective is the topic that just won’t quit. Fukunaga said that he would consider returning to True Detective at some point, even though he has gone on record stating how difficult it was. Perhaps the troubles of Beasts of no Nation have put certain things in perspective.

Fargo’s showrunner Noah Hawley gave an interview about the difficulties of moving an anthology series forward, and also lend his sympathy to True Detective season two. Speaking of Fargo, we are running a poll to see if True Detective fans think Fargo had a better premier. Make sure to cast your vote! Finally, another celebrity has taken a shot at True Detective season two. See if you can guess before you click.

That’s all there is to it. We’re inching closer to Halloween and we’d love to share any True Detective costumes that we see. As always, come chat with us on Facebook or Twitter.

Next: True Detective has gone full rom-com.
